The other night I needed to throw something quick together to take to a hog roast, so I flipped through a copy of Recipes for Warming Hearts that Gooseberry Patch gave me to review and giveaway (Psst… have you entered?) and I came across this yummy Monkey Bread recipe.
Only one problem… Monkey Bread isn’t exactly easy to eat (or serve) buffet style…
So, I remembered seeing something on Pinterest (I sooo heart Pinterest) where someone made individual Monkey Bread Muffins, so I took this recipe and applied the Pinterest technique 🙂
The individual servings were far less messy.
You start out with some butter… 2 sticks…. this is gonna be GOODe… melt those babies down.
Edited to add: Silly me! The single batch recipe only calls for one stick, not two!! But hey, is there really such a thing as too much butter?
Add 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 T of cinnamon.
Heat through and set aside.
Meanwhile take 2 T cinnamon and 1/2 cup of sugar and throw it in a gallon sized baggie…
Then grab the cutest preschooler you can find and ask her to shake things up a bit…
Ya might want to make sure that bag is closed before handing it off…just sayin’
Now take 2 tubes of biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters…
Then cue the preschooler and put several pieces in the bag and shake, shake, shake!
Again, you might want to supervise the closure of the bag… unless you like life on the edge… oh and sweeping up sugar and cinnamon… but hey if that is what floats your boat, I won’t judge 😉
Divide pieces evenly among each greased/sprayed muffin tin cup.
Edited to correct: (This recipe makes about 20 10-12 muffins)
Now pour your butter mixture over each muffin.
Bake at 325 for about 15 minutes.
Let sit for 5 minutes and then turn out of pan to cool.
I took this pan to the hog roast and truth be told, with all the yummy food that was there, I was a little nervous that I’d be eating Monkey Bread Muffins for weeks…
But, fear not… the pan was empty by the end of the night.
Guess I wasn’t the only one that thought they were yummy!

I made this one night ahead for breakfast in the morning, and they turned out GREAT!! I used homemade dough, and used muffin cups instead of just greasing the tin, and just couldn’t resist eating one serving that night! It was PERFECT! My family is going to LOVE these in the morning!

Yay! So glad to hear it!

Hi Cris! Quick question.. At the beginning of your blog, you say use 2 sticks of butter, but the recipe says 1/2 cup. Wouldn’t that be just one stick? I love butter but don’t want to over-do it!
