Dear Reader-
One of my favorite veggies my mom would cook up as a side dish was always cooked cabbage or grilled cabbage.
Now truth be told, Puddie would always turn his nose up at the thought of such a dish…
But then he tasted my mom’s cabbage and now he is all for it!
And the great news is, it is REALLY easy to cook up or grill.
Lay out enough foil to make a packet for your grill and dot your foil with 1/2 stick of butter. Then set aside.
Take your head of cabbage and core it…
Now I don’t do the whole slamming the cabbage down to core it… I have seen it done successfully, I just must not have the musskkles to make it work 😉
I just cut the bottom off the cabbage off and cut around the core… disappointing, I know.
Chop the cabbage into bite size pieces and put on buttered foil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Close up your foil and grill on high for 30 minutes, then flip and grill for an additional 20-30 minutes until desired tenderness is reached.
Perfection!
Note: If you don’t have an hour to grill your packet, you can always make it in the microwave. To make it in your microwave, just chop your head of cabbage up into bite size pieces and place in a microwave safe dish– no foil in the microwave ;). Pour enough water in the pan to just cover the water. Salt and pepper it and add 1/2 stick of butter- sliced. Cover and microwave for 10 minutes and then check for tenderness. Continue cooking until desired tenderness is reached.
