Does your family love pizza as much as mine? You will love this easy recipe for Pizza Skillet Bake that I altered from Gooseberry Patch’s Everyday Simple Suppers!
I have loved pizza in all kinds of forms for as long as I can remember. I can still remember the smells of my mom and dad making their famous deep dish pizza with “mangos” on it (our southern Indiana way of saying green bell peppers).
When I spent several weeks in the hospital as a child, a family friend offered to throw me a party when I got out– any kind of party I wanted. I chose a pizza party with all fixin’s.
Fast forward to my teen years. My future college roommate and I would go to the local pizza place and get our favorite large mushroom and cheese to share every chance we could.
In college, my future husband and I would share a late night pie from the local pub as a regular date.
Needless to say, it doesn’t take much for me to stop and take notice of a pizza recipe 😉 And let me tell you, I am in LOVE with this recipe.
You cook everything up in a skillet, top with some biscuits and cheese and bake that baby up.
This recipe is so simple and is sooo going on our regular menu.
I also used my very favorite Red Gold Tomatoes that are already seasoned with Basil, Garlic and Oregano. If you have not tried them, you simply must. I have never tasted a better canned tomato for Italian dishes. Such complex flavor–so good!
Dude.
Using the biscuits was brilliant! So easy and far less messy than regular crust.
However, if you are a crust stickler your could always make your dough and drop spoonfuls of it over the top instead of the biscuits…
I on the other-hand very much enjoyed the ease and flavor of using the biscuits. I can’t wait for you to try this recipe. It is one of our new favorites.
