What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty is one of my favorite contemporary fiction reads. This thought provoking story is entertaining, a little mysterious and rich with meaning.

I thought I might start sharing some of my favorite reads with you guys in the Food for the Soul section of this blog.
Truth be told, I don’t usually read a lot of contemporary fiction. I usually prefer something a bit more fantastical with my fiction and stick to non-fiction for stories based in this world. (I mean fact is often way stranger than fiction).
So it is rare for me to pick up a contemporary fiction book and it is extremely rare for it to be one of my favorite books but What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty hit the spot for me.
The reason I love this book so much is the layers of meaning that begin with the title. Our main character Alice is a woman who loves her life and the people in it but after an accident, she wakes up and discovers she has forgotten the last 10 years and she no longer recognizes her life or the woman who would make the choices to change the life she once adored.
I love my stories to have meaning and readers of What Alice Forgot not only learn about the 10 years Alice forgot, but also how Alice forgot what was important to her while living those 10 years.
This is such a thought-provoking read with a reminder to examine to what is important to you because in the chaos of life you can easily forget and you might just wake up one day and not recognize the life you choose.
Have you read this book? What did you think? Do you have other books thought provoking books you would recommend?
